Amazing God
Oct 3, 2006
I just can't understand how good God is. I have very troubled heart yesterday. I know I am a weak person in terms of opinion and when you talk to people. I am a kind of person who always say "OK" and never dare to debate back. And I have a task, assigned by my mentor to run an experiment. And for this, I have to ask help from other people about the machine that I will use. The problem is, I don't dare to speak up. And with this, I will tend to drag to ask.
Today, everything is just in time. When I met this guy, I can't tell much, I just accepted the rejection request, but then just in time I met my mentor. Then she discussed with the guy. Just in time. My greatest fear has been taken care by Lord. It is amazing. How I prayed before I slept the other night, how I asked JH to pray for this also, then I prayed again on the train and every moment I wanted to speak to him. And God helped me just like that.
This wonderful day came to end when I arrived at Clementi. Just when I was near home. I went to make copy of my photo for PR application. Then the auntie just told me that the background was not white enough, that my photo didn't show eyebrow and ear good enough. Then she rejected me just like that. She didn't allow me to make copy of my photo. Strange. Then I walked back, and remember there is another Photo-shop nearby, then I went there. The auntie was nice, she let me make the copy, but it much more expensive. And she printed it on glossy paper, then I asked her that I needed the "matte" version, but she insisted that that was the one can be used for PR application, and I paid $6 for 4 piece.
What do I learn today?.....still thinking.....

Banana Pancakes
Aug 20, 2006
I made banana pancake today, due to my bananas, I forgot to eat them, hahaha.... So I decided to make a good breakfast. Then my next-door roomate said that it just like her favorite songs called Banana Pancake. Hahaha...so there it goes:
Banana Pancakes
Can't you see it's just raining? there ain't no need to go outside
You hardly even notice when I try to show you this song
it’s meant to keep you from doing what you’re supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in I’ll make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it’s the weekend now and we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining, there ain’t no need to go outside
But just maybe, hala ka ukulele
Mama made a baby I really don’t mind the practice
Because you’re my little lady
Lady, lady love me
Because I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains
Pretend like there’s no world outside and we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining there ain’t no need to go outside
Telephone singing, ringing, it’s too early
Don’t pick it up, we don’t need to
We got everything we need right here and everything we need is enough
It’s just so easy when the whole world fits inside of your arms
Do we really need to pay attention to the alarm wake up slow, wake up slow

The following appeared in a letter to the editor in the journal Health Master
Statistic gathered over the past three decades show that the death rate is higher among those who have no jobs than among those with regular employment. Unemployment, just like heart disease and cancer, is a significant health issue. While many health care advocates promote increased government funding for medical research and public health care, it would be folly to increase government funding if doing so were to affect the nation economy adversely and ultimately cause a rise in unemployment. A healthy economy means a healthy citizen.
The author stated about the statistic of death rate for the last three decades implying that unemployment have higher death rate compare with the employed one. This confirmation is not precise enough to conclude that it can represent the whole nation. The sample region for the survey should be taken into consideration. The population characteristics and distribution will also affect the statistic result.
Perhaps most of the population at the region where the statistic was made is at their old age so that they are all unemployed at that time and old people usually having health problem. So it’s possible that only at that region that the death rate of the unemployment is increasing.
There is another possibility for the increasing in the death rate of unemployment is that the unemployed already carry a severe health problem before, so that companies don’t accept them as employees. If this is the case, it doesn’t mean that unemployment caused the bereavement, but eventually the disease does.
A very swift conclusion taken from the statistic alone is not effective. There are lot of other consideration to think and ponder of before made the conclusion. Besides, without a further medical research to improve the health life of the citizen, people won’t be effective in working and nation’s economy wouldn’t be improved with low human resource healthy. We can’t deny that unemployment is also one of the factors why the death rate is increasing. People without employment tend to be despised by the family and society. Stressed of the family burden will pressure them and come to some severe health problem. So both must work together, unemployment must be taken care of and in the same time medical research also still have to go on with even funding.

In this electronic age, reading has inevitably taken a back seat to watching television and gleaning information from the World Wide Web. People learn far more readily from electronic media than they do from print
When we try to compare between the electronic and printing media, both will have advantages and disadvantages of their own according to the people point of view. The newest generation will surely support the electronic media due to practical in keeping the material, interactive and the more “up-to-date”. On the other way, other people tend to prefer printing media, because it is more ‘real’ in the sense that it can be touched, easier to be read, reliable and more personal.
The first reason why people prefer electronic media rather than printing is because electronic media give more up to date information to the viewer. For example the news on TV which is broadcasted every few hours, giving new information about the world condition today. With the internet, people all over the world can read the e-newspaper to know what happening on the other side of the world. And this e-newspaper is being updated every second. If there is a fresh incident, it will be published fast. As for printing media such as newspaper, it will be difficult to update what happening around us. People have to wait the next day before they found out what actually have happened with their friends in the other country or continent.
Electronic is also more practical in use, in the case of saving files or other information. Nowadays there are a lot of e-books at the internet which we can download it and read it in the computer and safe it with a single click. It is easier also to make classification of the file, rather than we do catalogue for books. Printing media definitely will need more space to store and cost money. Such as books will need bookshelves and it will take more room. In terms of advancement in science and technology, this electronic media existence is really helpful. Journals which are written by different people in the world, sharing their newest research or invention, can be shared easily in the web. We don’t need to go to so far to borrow their journals.
Most of the people think that electronic media is more interesting and interactive. This can be proven by a lot of good books nowadays which are adapted to movie screening. People perceptions for boring literature books, are changed to become more artistic and interesting. The young generation can more appreciate the literature. But some people think that with reading a book, human can freely imagine things, it can build the inner creativity.
Although electronic media is more preferred by lots of people today, but we still can find lots of printing media. Books are still being sold in all over the world. Perhaps this era, electronic devices is still costly than buying a single printing book. Some people still prefer traditional reading method by using printing media. Books is more practical in the sense that we can bring anywhere we like, and it’s more comfortable to read by using books in every circumstances.
When comes to learning, people can use any media to enhance their knowledge, both by electronic and the printing media. Sometimes also, information that is gained from internet is not so reliable comparing that we got from the book. With lots of information which is both up to date and reliable, people surely will gain more knowledge.

A petition by
The purpose of higher education is to prepare students for the future, but Classen students are at a serious disadvantage in the competition of post-college employment due to the University's burdensome breadth requirement. Classen's job placement rate is substantially lower than placement rates of many top-ranked schools. Classen students would be more attractive to employers if they have more time to take advanced courses in their specialty, rather than being required to spend fifteen percent of their time at Classen taking courses outside their subject area. We demand therefore that the University abandon or drastically cut back on its breadth requirements.
The Classen students demand for the cutting of the requirements by the university. They thought that the requirement is useless for them in getting their future. In the petition, they stated reason of their demanding which is the lose of job placement. Their argument is not strong enough since there are no clear evidence from the petition and no specific data was mentioned for the accuracy of their conclusion.
The petition stated that most of the Classen students have lost competition in the job placement, but there is no significant data to support this statement. There is a possibility that the market that time are heading to a new fresh industry field which Classen University hasn't provided that kind of education of human resource. There is chance that neighboring state which is already heading to this field and the university there has been provided graduates that suit the field. This may lead to higher intake of graduates from other university
The authors of the petition try to compare the job placement with top-rank school. Nevertheless, they don't mention the method of comparison. There is a possibility that the comparison is done between Classen and other top-rank university at the different state. If this is the case, there might be differences in the demographic population distribution. Perhaps the students are lesser so that the job placements are higher at that state.
There is a misconception of the objective purpose for the higher education of the term 'future' between the university and the student's point of view. Perhaps from university perspective, preparing a future for a student is not merely making student getting job easily. There are a lot of other factors that determine the term future, such as broaden point of view, where student can see things differently in a certain issue comparing to the specialist in the field.
There is still a possibility that if students are taught specialized only on their subject, they still can lose in the competition due to their individually incompetence. With this lack of argument's evidence, perhaps the students can try to see the university point of view about their requirement. They still have their uniqueness compare to other university with this specialist point of view. And usually whatever we studied in university is usually will be useless when we really go into the real world, since there are still a lot of things that we haven't learned.

"Young people frequently fall into the trap of assuming that the difficulties they face today are greater and more troublesome than those faced by previous generations. As they gain experience and maturity, however, they eventually become aware of the falsity of this assumption"
In this new era of globalization, a lot of challenges come to take part for the young generation. As a young people who lack of experience, they tend to think that whatever they face today is a lot tougher than before. With a lot of pressure from everywhere there is a conception in their mind that today is worse than yesterday.
Nevertheless, there are some reasons why young people think in that kind of conception. With the rapid advancement in technology, people tend to fight to get the higher achievement on their field. For example is in the invention of transistor. During the beginning of its being created, the size of a single transistor might not as small as the current one. With the advancement in technology, there is a pressure to create a device which is smaller and smaller. To make this thing happened; surely it won't be as easy as before. Every smaller size in invention will lead to another smaller one, which will be more difficult to think of how to make it more compact then the previous one. The rapid advancement in technology pressure the young generation to make some new invention better than before. People have to compete against time and technology.
Another struggle which is being faced by the younger generation, instead of the technology pressure, is the tight competition among themselves as a generation. They all strive to become the best among its generation. People are getting smarter and smarter every time. More and more people lose in the competition and they are being looked down by the society. With this worldview, young people are being pressured for being the best.
But when the young generation gains more experience and maturity, they realize that no generation is free from difficulties. Every generation shall have its own difficulties on its era, such as the recession which came to
The rapid technology advancement which push the young people to investigate more and more deeper, tend to make the young people think their works are tougher than the previous generations. Secondly the pressure from competitiveness either among the generation or another generation implicitly says that people are getting smarter and smarter, so that the competition is much tougher than before. With the increase in maturity and time, they realize that people can't run from the difficulties. Problems will be always among us and it's better that young and old generation can work together to share their experience so that together they come overcome the barrier.

"The pressure to achieve high grades in school seriously limits the quality of learning. An educational environment without grades would promote more genuine intellectual development."
Feb 2, 2006
Education institutes are spread all over the world, producing highly intelligent human resource. People compete to get in to the famous top unversities in the world. So that if they graduated with high grades there, people amongst the world will admit their intelligence. Education is exist and close with us since we were children. The main thing is the aim of the genuine intellectual development whether it can be achieved with the grades pressures or not.
Students are started to be called students, are when they start to attend some education institution. It is started when they enter primary school or even kindergarten. They study because they have to, because the parents say so. Student is forced to get good grades and strive for the best amongst their friend. Some students tend to rebell from the obligation and study only at the last second, just before exam. And just after that they may forget all the things they learned. From at that very moment, students study without understanding the true meaning of learning and education.
Without grades' pressure, perhaps students will study merely because they love it, because they have passion on it. They can connect and put into practise from one theory to another. For example just like a famous inventor Thomas Alpha Edition. He was never give up until the very last minute and he could find out the secret of light bulb.
In the current society nowadays, high grades will be identic with bright future. Students are pushed to get the highest grades with an assumption that they can get job easily with their good grades. This assumption is being realised in japan, where a lot of people suicide if they don't get good grades. The pressure and competition is very high there.
We should know that grades don't decide the future. If we read some biography of Bill gates or the Apple's founder Steve Green. Both of them didn't finish their tertiary education. They dropped out from the school but yet they are rich, and the richest amongst people in the world today.A lot of success people is not a top student in their school before.
Unfortunatelly without pressures, student will have no drives in study. No discipline to learn new things or curiosity in new technology. Human without any force or drive sometimes can't go on and no passion on the field. The advancement in technology will be left behind and there will be no improvement in any field in life. That's why drive is still needed in learning process together with the right understanding in learning. So that people will study not only because of the grades, but also because they know the more genuine intellectual development.
A genuine intellectual development will surely be achieved with and without the grades pressure. Both are an interchangeably aspect that can't be separated. Without pressure or drive, the objectives of genuine intellectual development won't be achieved.
